CULVER CITY, CA – The almostGOLF ball, a safe, limited distance and true performance golf ball with a CO2 internal pressurized core will be played through the streets of St Andrews, UK by the French Streetgolf outfit Le 19èmeTrou (the 19th Hole) during the St Andrews Golf Festival, March 28th – April 1st.
In this preview video clip on the blog site www.homeofgolf.tv , episode 58 (http://www.homeofgolf.tv/2012/03/06/street-golf-st-andrews-golf-festival-home-of-golf-tv-episode-58/ ) shows street golf play in St Andrews with the almostGOLF ball.
From the history of golf shared on the St Andrews Golf Festival website – “In St Andrews, children played a form of golf up and down the narrow streets of St Andrews with sticks and old corks”. Coincidentally, the almostGOLF ball has its origin in wine corks, albeit synthetic wine corks. Robert Peterson, the inventor of the almostGOLF ball, had an ‘aha’ moment while at a cocktail party when he pulled the synthetic wine cork out of a bottle of St Francis chardonnay. He then worked with the world leader in synthetic wine corks, Supreme Corq to develop what is now the CO2-pressurized almostGOLF ball that has made Streetgolf, urban golf and Crossgolf possible.
Le 19èmeTrou (www.19mtrou.com ) led by Philippe Missemer aka Sköyp of Paris also produces the annual Streetgolf event, the Paris Pro Tour Master Classic, begun in 2007. And in 2011, Sköyp launched the French City Pro Tour, Streetgolf Championship of France. The 2012 Tour begins in Morlaix, France on April 7th, the first stop of five cities. almostGOLF is a sponsor and the official tournament ball of these events.
What the softball did for baseball, the almostGOLF ball has done for golf – it has broken the safety barrier, yet with true flight characteristics. It provides a fun, challenging golf experience off the golf course in parks and schoolyards. It is also being used in limited distance driving ranges or practice areas where safety is a concern, or even on a Par 3 course where it can be played with long irons.
almostGOLF, LLC is the maker of the almostGOLF ball, the #1 Off Course Ball in Golf, which is constructed with a CO2-pressurized core for realistic ball flight, yet at a 1/3 the weight of a regulation golf ball, it is safe to play and practice off the golf course. With its patented technology, the made-in -the USA almostGOLF ball allows golfers of all skill levels to improve their golf game as well as enjoy playing Streetgolf, urban golf, neighborhood golf, etc., off the golf course. almostGOLF is committed to growing the game of golf through its programs with golf teaching pros, golf in schools programs, almostGOLF ball tournaments and fundraising events worldwide. almostGOLF products are available in major US retailers including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy, Edwin Watts Golf Shops, Roger Dunn Golf Shop, Sport Chalet, in many local golf pro shops and online at www.almostgolf.com .
Le 19èmeTrou (the 19th Hole) is a collective of Parisian street golfers playing since 2004, in the streets of the French capital and throughout Europe. Originally the association started with a group of friends, Sandrine, Sköyp, Pierrick, Kevin, and Bastien. The group is now composed of Philippe aka Sköyp, Hobz aka Benoit, Matthew, Ben and David. Le 19èmeTrou is not composed only of players but has among its ranks designers, graffiti writers, graphic artists, musicians … The group continues to develop projects from a cultural universe of its own: that of the “street culture”. It is only natural that artists converged on Le 19èmeTrou.
The cultural mix of disciplines is the essence of Streetgolf. Among the events organized by Le 19èmeTrou, the most significant is the Paris Pro Tour Master Classic, more commonly known PPTMC. Created in 2007 by the collective, this great competition has become, over the years, the landmark event of Streetgolf in France. Each year the PPTMC has over 100 players from all over France to compete on a new course through the streets of Paris. In 2011, Le 19èmeTrou launched the French City Pro Tour (FCPT), Streetgolf championship of France, the first championship in Streetgolf history. The player team of Le 19èmeTrou also won this inaugural event.
