History book, series of activities, special logo to mark occasion
Jackson, NJ (March 27, 2012) – Metedeconk National Golf Club, recognized by the New Jersey Golf Course Owners Association as the 2012 Club of the Year, is gearing up for its 25th anniversary this year by publishing a book detailing the Club’s rich history, planning a series of activities and releasing a special logo honoring the occasion.
Nestled in the upper region of the New Jersey Pinelands, Metedeconk National Golf Club was created as a golfing oasis, a departure from the hustle and bustle of New York City and Philadelphia, each of which is within one hour’s drive. World-renowned golf course architects Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Roger Rulewich designed the private, 27-hole facility. The club was recently ranked by Golfweek among its “Top 100 Modern” golf courses. Mario Pierro serves as Chairman of the 25th Anniversary Committee.
The anniversary book, written by John Steinbreder; who is the author of six sports books and a former staff writer for Sports Illustrated and Golfweek magazines; and designed by award-winning artist Larry Hasak, will be available later this year. It provides a thorough history of the Club, from the original founding vision to current day operations, and includes a dedication page for the Members who have supported the 25th Anniversary effort. An analysis of the golf holes by Rulewich, a recap of the tournaments held at the Club through the years, a listing of course records and extensive photography are also included.
The anniversary celebration will kick off with the Founder’s Cup in June, at which founding member Richard S. Sambol and Mr. Rulewich will address the participants.
As part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration, Metedeconk is hosting the prestigious Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) Senior Amateur Championship, May 7-8. Also, the Club will again host two annual events – the 15th Metedeconk National Invitational in September and the Robert Trent Jones Invitational with the New Jersey Golf Course Superintendents Association in October.
In addition to the Club of the Year honors from the New Jersey Golf Course Owners Association in 2012 and the NJ Section of the PGA in 2010, Metedeconk’s practice facility, perennially considered among the finest in the northeast, was recently named best in the state by Golf Styles New Jersey.
