(March 23, 2012 – Coral Springs, FL) Caddy For A Cure, Inc., the professional golf opportunity to caddy for a day for charity with the world’s best golfers, is proud to announce a fundraising partnership with Kidz1stFund™, the foundation organized by Florida State Head Football coach, Jimbo Fisher and his wife Candi. The effort between the organizations is to raise awareness and funds in the fight against Fanconi anemia through jointly hosting a fundraising golf tournament. The event will take place on Thursday, May 17th beginning at 11:00am at the Country Club of Coral Springs in Coral Springs, FL.
Founded by PGA TOUR caddy and South Florida section PGA member, Russ Holden, Caddy For A Cure has been working with the best players in the world since 2004 offering inside the ropes experiences for golf enthusiasts in its efforts to raise funding for Fanconi anemia, as well as for Birdies for the Brave, and other worthy causes.
Kidz1stFund was created in 2011 to raise awareness and funds in support of research to fight Fanconi anemia, a rare but serious blood disease that affects thousands of children each year.
Caddy For A Cure CEO Russ Holden commented “We are both excited and honored for this opportunity with Kidz1stFund to raise funds for Fanconi anemia. We became aware of this relatively little known disorder 18 years ago when the child of close friends of ours was born with it, and again 5 years after that when their 5th child was also afflicted. While progress has been made toward finding a cure, our passion to fight this disorder has only grown over the years as we’ve seen the devastating loss of lives as a result of Fanconi anemia.”
Candi Fisher, Kidz1stFund Chairwoman and FA parent added, “Jimbo and I had never heard of Fanconi anemia before last spring. Now, as the parents of a child diagnosed with FA, we have learned so much about it, about the new treatments that are being developed and breakthroughs that are on the horizon. We also know that defeating this illness will require the help of generous souls from every walk of life and we are thrilled about this opportunity to partner with Caddy For A Cure for fundraising through the world of golf. We’re committed to doing everything we can to win the fight against Fanconi anemia.”
