CHICAGO, Ill. (March 28, 2012) – Swingbyte, the wireless three-dimensional swing analyzer introduced at the PGA Merchandise Show in January, was featured Sunday on the Golf Digest Equipment Special on NBC Sports.
From more than one million square feet of exhibits and thousands of products shown at the 2012 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Golf Digest editors chose three product favorites to spotlight in the closing segment of the annual nationally televised broadcast.
“Analyzing your golf swing used to involve computers the size of dishwashers. Now, Swingbyte is barely an inch big and it works on your iPad, Android phone, your iPhone,” Golf Digest senior editor Mike Stachura said while holding a club with Swingbyte attached. “Your swing never looked so cool.”
Swingbyte attaches to the shaft of any golf club and transmits swing information in real time. Using a lightweight sensor, an advanced mathematical algorithm and Bluetooth connectivity, Swingbyte digitizes a golfer’s swing and records club head speed, swing path and impact angle. Golfers and their instructors can view the information on Apple and Android smartphones and tablets to analyze the swing and make adjustments.
“We’re thrilled that Swingbyte was part of the broadcast, but we’re probably even more gratified that the Golf Digest editors think so highly of the product and what it can do to help golfers improve their swing,” said Brian Payne, a former PGA Professional who is vice president of business development for Chicago-based Swingbyte.
The third annual Golf Digest Equipment Special, which aired before the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, reviewed the latest clubs, balls and technologies available for golfers.
Swingbyte, which begins shipping in April, can be ordered through the company’s website, www.swingbyte.com. The introductory price of $149 includes the Swingbyte unit and access for one year to premium content and services, a $49 value included at no charge during the introductory period. Premium options include historical data storage, upgraded instruction and the ability to send data to instructors for review.
