Stafford, VA – The 10th Annual MAPGA Spring Fling will be held at Fauquier Springs Country Club in Warrenton, Virginia on Thursday & Friday, April 5th & 6th. The tournament will feature some fantastic talents from all over the Mid-Atlantic region. Juniors will be coming from five different states including Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia.
Built in 1957, Fauquier Springs CC offers unbelievable views of the Rappahanock River and Barrows Run. At Par 71 and playing just over 6100 yards, length is not the problem. The challenge for the players will be the tree-lined fairways and the small, quick greens.
Headlining the Boys division is Luke Malanchuk (Arlington, VA.) Malanchuk finished 2nd in last year’s tournament and is looking to be crowned champion this year. The boys field is very deep this year. A number of players were very successful in 2011 and are looking to start their 2012 season off with a victory. The list includes Chris Brugge (2011 MAPGA Nordlinger Cup Champion; Vienna, VA), Will Byrne (McLean, VA), Matthew DiSalvo (Great Falls, VA), Ryan Douglass (Leesburg, VA), Ty Herriott (MVP of Maryland team in MAPGA Capital Cup; Brandywine, MD), Tyler Olmsted (Boyds, MD), Tyler Satorius (played for Team Virginia in 2011 MAPGA Capital Cup; Annandale, MD), Nathan Tenpas (Chevy Chase, MD), and Zach Weaver (Williamsburg, VA.)
The Girls division is very strong as well. Stephanie Bosdosh (Clarksburg, MD) will be trying to defend her title from last year. Boshdosh, the daughter of PGA Professional Steve Boshdosh, comes from a golfing family with both of her brothers currently playing for the University of Maryland. Hot on her heels is Rachel Lee (Woodstock, MD). Lee had a brilliant 2011 campaign becoming the 2011 MAPGA Girls Player of the Year with wins at the Tour Championship and five one-day tournaments.
