Industry veteran to oversee expansion of OptiShot Infrared Simulator Ì¢?å¬across all key European markets
(TRAVERSE CITY, MI) – Dancin’ Dogg Golf – maker of the affordable, award-winning OptiShot Infrared Simulator, the ultimate in-home virtual golf system – announces that Mike Smith has been named European Business Manager.
A former journalist who entered the golf industry more than 25 years ago, Smith will drive OptiShot sales through his longstanding network of contacts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and continental Europe. He previously held senior roles for a wide range of high-profile brands, including Nike Golf, Cobra and Dunlop Slazenger Corp.
“As we continue our rapid and sustainable expansion beyond North America, it was essential to fill this key role with someone who’s respected in all sectors of the golf industry,” says Dancin’ Dogg CEO Brandon Theophilus. “Mike’s a true professional who will play a significant part in driving awareness, sell-in and sell-through of our unique in-home simulator solution.”
Smith’s diverse career in golf spans a breadth of disciplines, including sales, marketing, Tour promotion, brand management and product development.
“OptiShot provides golfers of all ages and abilities with a realistic, affordable way to play, practice and improve on replicas of the world’s greatest courses from the comfort of home,” says Smith. “We’ve already received tremendous interest from golfers, the corporate world and, very pleasingly, schools, sporting organizations and less able-bodied individuals.”
Dancin’ Dogg Golf was recently ranked one of America’s fast-growing entrepreneurial companies by Inc. Magazine, placing No. 358 on the prestigious Inc. 500 list for 2011. This honor was based on the company’s 951.2% revenue growth from 2007 through 2010.
The OptiShot system connects with Windows computers via a plug-and-play interface and requires only 8-½ feet of swing space. With their own clubs, up to four players per round can compete by hitting real balls, foam balls (provided) or no ball at all. Infrared sensors on a durable swing pad precisely record club-head speed, face angle, swing path, distance, tempo, face contact and ball flight. In addition to Core courses that come with the system, OptiShot users can practice and compete on the par-3 option or a realistic driving range.
