Sundog Eyewear Salutes Louis Oosthuizen’s Historic Albatross At The Masters

Augusta, Georgia: Sundog Eyewear is pleased to congratulate Louis Oosthuizen on his historic shot seen round the world at the 76th Masters tournament.

In the final round, Oosthuizen became the first player in the historic event to score a double eagle 2, an Albatross, on the 575-yard second hole. Wearing his custom designed Sundog Eyewear BENT Mela-Lens™ sunglasses Oosthuizen recorded the incredible feat by sinking a four iron shot from an astounding 253 yards. It was only the fourth Albatross in Masters history and the first to be televised.

“It was my first double eagle ever,” said the 29-year-old winner of the 2010 Open Championship. “So it was tough over the next five holes to get my head around it and just play.”

The native of Mossel Bay, South Africa – his custom Sundog Eyewear frames are in the colours of the South African flag – played well enough to tie Bubba Watson after 72 holes. Watson won the Green Jacket with a miraculous shot on the second sudden-death playoff hole.

Oosthuizen is one of the game’s finest players with seven International victories including the 2011 African Open. On and off the golf course, Oothuizen’s sunglasses of choice are Sundog Eyewear Mela-Lens™.

“Mela” is an abbreviation for Melanin, a naturally produced pigment that acts as a sunscreen protecting the skin and eyes from High Energy Visible light or “blue” light. Exclusive to Sundog Eyewear, Mela-Lens™ utilizes synthetic melanin to filter blue light and block ultra-violet light for the ultimate in protection and performance. The benefits are enhanced definition, superior clarity, and minimal visual fatigue.

Oosthuizen’s fellow Genuine Performers wearing Sundog Eyewear Mela-Lens™ sunglasses include Paula Creamer, Pablo Larrazábal, and Mike Weir.

The 2012 Sundog Eyewear line features 12 new models and the Paula Creamer Collection; Mike Weir’s Weir Golf Signature Series; Mela-Lens™ Polarized and Mela-Lens™ Photochromic™ models; and the complete Core Golf line.
