Florida’s No. 1 golf community adding elite instructional program
(LECANTO, Fla.) – Black Diamond – one of Florida’s most iconic golf communities and home of Tom Fazio’s famed Quarry Course – announces its new partnership with the world-renowned John Jacobs Golf Schools and Academies.
John Jacobs Golf Schools (two- and three-day) cover every facet of the game from full-swing video analysis, to short-game technique, to trouble shots and uneven lies. The Academies offer the same time-honored tradition of teaching excellence through a variety of customized programs tailored to students’ needs.
Both the Schools and Academies are open to members and golfers from surrounding areas in search of premier game-improvement curriculum.
“Black Diamond is one of the most sought after golf experiences in the world,” says Doug Egly, general manager. “Our partnership with John Jacobs Golf Schools and Academies provides members with instruction commensurate with our facilities.”
Founded in 1976 by John Jacobs and Shelby Futch, two of golf’s most decorated teachers, the programs have graduated more than 500,000 students at 100 locations across the world.
Using cutting-edge V1 Pro video analysis software, John Jacobs Golf Schools and Academies provide in-depth swing analysis. The software’s companion, the V1 Golf App, allows lessons to be recorded directly on students’ smartphones where they can take advantage of slow-motion playback, side-by-side swing comparisons with tour pros, a full suite of drawing tools, view video drills and tips, and more.
“We are looking forward to working with the membership and guests of Black Diamond to create a one-of-a-kind learning environment in which their games will thrive,” says Cliff Lawson, vice president and director of instruction for the John Jacobs Golf Schools and Academies.
Non-members interested in attending the John Jacobs Golf Schools and Academies can reserve a guest home in the community. Students also receive a special discount at the Holiday Inn Express in Lecanto.

The Quarry Course, set amongst limestone cliffs, live oak trees, dogwoods, myrtles and magnolias, has been ranked one of “America’s 100 Greatest Courses” by Golf Digest and among the “Top 100 Courses in the U.S.” by GOLF Magazine. Black Diamond has earned a place on LINKS Magazine’s list of “America’s 100 Premier Properties,” and is perennially featured on Golfweek’s “Best U.S. Residential Golf Courses” list.
