(ROATAN, Honduras) – Pristine Bay Resort – located on the idyllic Caribbean island of Roatan – announces its Pete and Perry Dye-designed course, The Black Pearl, has been ranked No. 1 in Honduras by Golf Digest.
Opened last year, the par-72, 7,179-yard layout features 17 holes with unfettered ocean views and recently hosted the 69th edition of the Central American Golf Championships. Only 15 minutes from Roatan International Airport (RTB), Pristine Bay and The Black Pearl are accessible from a number of North American cities via non-stop flights.
“We’re honored to have been recognized by Golf Digest,” says Luis Pedro Toriello, Chief Operating Officer of Pristine Bay Resort. “We invite you to come see what makes The Black Pearl the Caribbean’s newest ‘must play’ golf experience.”
The Dyes’ first project in Honduras starts at the ocean’s doorstep and rises into Roatan’s rolling foothills before taking golfers on a wild ride back to the seaside clubhouse. The 157-yard, island-green, par-3 11th is perhaps The Black Pearl’s most notable and visually intimidating hole. From the elevated tee, players enjoy exceptional golf course and sea vistas.
Dye Designs, pioneers of the use of Paspalum turf for tropics-based projects, grassed The Black Pearl with this salt-water tolerant strand known for its environmental compatibility, ease of irrigation and maintenance, and translucent green hue. Its appearance – juxtaposed against the turquoise waters offshore – inspired The Black Pearl’s tagline: “The Best Greens and the Best Blues.”
The “Black Pearl Package” is available starting at $740 per person (plus tax, sextuple occupancy). It includes your choice of three single-tank dives or one green fee per day; six days’ / five nights’ villa accommodations with private pool; and daily Honduran or continental breakfast. Packages may be customized to include extra activities such as, zip lining, deep-sea fishing, island tour and other activities.
