SAN MARTIN, Calif. (April 25, 2012) … Carol Kaufman, a member of CordeValle Golf Club, has been appointed to serve as General Chairman for the 2013 USGA Senior Women’s Amateur Championship, to be played at CordeValle, A Rosewood Resort.
Kaufman, Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer for The Cooper Companies, Inc., based in Pleasanton, Calif., is a passionate golfer with a 13 index who has played golf around the world. Besides CordeValle, Kaufman is a member at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, as well as several clubs in Scotland.
Named to the 2012 list of “Most Influential Women in Business in the Bay Area” by the San Francisco Business Times, Kaufman, 62, is dedicated to serving others through golf. She has been a Director of The Olympic Club Foundation and is a member of the Board of Directors for both The First Tee of San Francisco and the Bay Area Sports Hall Of Fame.
“It is an honor to be selected as General Chairman for this prestigious national championship,” Kaufman said. “I have built wonderful friendships through the game, with more surely on the horizon. A native of Newark, N.J., Kaufman is a graduate of Boston University, doing her post-graduate studies in accounting at Fairleigh Dickinson University (NJ) and lives in San Mateo, Calif.
Launched in 1962, the USGA Senior Women’s Amateur is an annual championship for competitors who have reached their 50th birthday by the first date of scheduled competition, and who possess a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 18.4. The starting field of 132 plays two rounds of stroke-play qualifying, with the low 64 scorers advancing to match play.
