Funk plays TaylorMade equipment including new TaylorMade R11S driver, RocketBallz 3-wood, ATV wedge and Penta TP 3
CARLSBAD, Calif. (May. 6, 2012) – TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff Professional Fred Funk stood in the winner’s circle for the seventh time on the Champions Tour after a dramatic birdie on the 18th hole of the Insperity Championship at Woodlands Country Club. With memories of his 1992 Shell Houston Open victory looming and his 16-year old son on his bag, Funk birdied four of the final five holes to seal the win over fellow TMaG staffer Tom Lehman.
Keying Funk’s success was his accuracy and control with his Tour Preferred MC irons and new Penta TP 3 golf ball (T2 in Greens in Regulation). Funk also drove the ball beautifully with his R11S and Rocketballz 3-wood, which set him up for easy approach shots. The clinching shot came at 18 when Funk used a 5-iron to hit a 174-yard approach to within two feet of the pin.
Funk also played the new ATV (All Terrain Versatility) wedge, which features a radically advanced sole design to handle a multitude of shots.
