IRVINE, CA – May 9, 2012 – FOURTEEN GOLF, the recognized leader in wedge design with now 39 worldwide professional tour victories since 2010, announced today that a FOURTEEN GOLF Wedge was used to hole out from over 30 feet to clinch the Stadion Classic title.
According to FOURTEEN GOLF COO Marcy Kamoda, “It was thrilling to actually see our wedge blast through the sand and hit the pin. This single one shot sealed this professional’s first Nationwide victory and we’re proud to be part of it.”
This is the second time the company has celebrated a Stadion Classic victory. In 2011, an amateur played a FOURTEEN GOLF Wedge not only to win the tournament but make history as it was the second time in 22 years for an amateur to win on the Nationwide Tour.
“The University of Georgia Golf Course is challenging with bunkers that guard the landing areas so our wedges were used when a variety of professionals came up short,” added Kamoda.
FOURTEEN GOLF because of the UGA golf course layout has a lot of wedges in play including one highly gifted Nationwide Tour Professional who played the newly introduced FOURTEEN GOLF RM-11 Wedges last weekend to tie for seventh place, capturing his second Top-10 finish of the 2012 golf season.
The new RM-11 Wedge is played on the PGA, Nationwide, and LPGA Tour. Its
immediate acceptance by these touring professionals validated its performance characteristics associated with the enlarged grooves.
The larger grooves translate to maximum spin with exceptional control. The new USGA conforming FOURTEEN GOLF trapezoidal grooves have been enlarged by 15% as compared to its predecessor.
This increase in overall groove volume enhances spin retention particularly on partial shots and provides extraordinary control, incomparable spin and precision like accuracy.
To ensure optimal spin with precision and tighter tolerances, FOURTEEN GOLF mirror mills each larger groove on the RM-11 Wedge. This additional procedure takes an enormous amount of time but it is done to achieve and attain the highest spin performance possible.
The RM-11 Series of Wedges feature a different sole shape according to a specific loft. The 48-degree loft is designed for optimum performance and control with a full shot. Where the 56 and 58-degree lofts are engineered to employ or take advantage of the bounce with an approach shot. The 60-degree wedge is designed to assist with a high lob shot.
FOURTEEN GOLF is a burgeoning golf equipment company that takes great pride in their tour program. This year FOURTEEN GOLF officially signed
Japanese golfing prodigy and PGA Professional Ryuji Imada to a three year endorsement deal which includes a staff bag, head covers, hat, umbrella and wedges. He joins FOURTEEN GOLF team members PGA Professionals Chad Collins and Arjun Atwal.
