Sanford, FL – Matt Kuchar and his RIFE Island Series Barbados putter dominated the putting statistics for the week and captured an easy two stoke victory over the field at the flagship event for the PGA TOUR, The Players Championship, this past weekend.
RIFE’s Tour Rep hand delivered a new Island Series Barbados putter to him on Monday morning and after rolling it a few times on the practice green at TPC Sawgrass, Kuchar decided to immediately put it into play.
“We made Matt a brand new Barbados with a special bend and bore angle that would fit his putting style better, said Jim Barfield, V.P. of Tour Operations for RIFE Putters, “It has 5 degrees of loft and a 70 degree lie angle. I joked with Matt’s dad on Monday and said it was a “magic putter” that we put together for him. Little did I know I was right! What a thrilling victory. We’re just proud to be a part of it.”
Kuchar ranked 2nd in Strokes Gained/Putting, 5th in Putts Per Round (27.5 avg.) and 5th in Putts Per GIR (1.642 avg.). “I’ve never seen Matt so confident standing over his putts,” said Barfield, “it was like he was stuck on automatic.”
Kuchar has had a number of Top Ten finishes already this season and captured a 3rd Place Finish at The Masters earlier this year using his old RIFE Barbados putter, but the new bend and bore angle seem to have made all the difference in the world.
Kuchar earned a check for $1.7 Million for his Players Championship victory and moved up to 6th Place on the Fed Ex Cup Points List.
RIFE’s new line of putters for 2012 include its award winning Island Series models like the Abaco, Aruba, Barbados, Cayman Brac and Trinidad, all of which are recent recipients of a 2012 Golf Digest Hot List Award.
All of these Island Series putters are available in either a Standard Silver Finish or in RIFE’s brand new Tropical Finish. This Tropical Finish is created by using a vacuum “Ti” plating process” on the head of the putter. A broad spectrum of colors emanate from this deep rich gunmetal like finish creating a “rainbow effect” depending upon how the light hits it. The new finish has other benefits aside from its eye-catching appearance. The finish prevents oxidization, increases hardness and makes the putter very wear-resistant.
About RIFE Putters
RIFE Putters, LLC is the true innovator behind horizontal grooved face putter technology with a patent on specifically sized grooves since 1997. These precisely spaced grooves allow the putter to gently press into the cover of the ball and grip and lift it into an instant forward roll. RIFE Putters states, “just as grooves in irons help control spin so do grooves in a putter face.” Other companies are now trying to imitate this patented technology but the spacing of the grooves is the true key to the gripping and lifting effect of grooved face putter technology. Horizontal RollGrooveTM faced putters create the truest “no skid” roll in golf no matter where you hit the ball on the putter face.
