(TAMPA, FL) – Emerald Greens Golf Resort and Country Club – managed by Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – has embarked on a capital-enhancements project to convert all greens on its 27-hole golf course to Champion Bermuda Grass.
By re-turfing nine holes simultaneously, members and guests will enjoy access to the 18 holes not under construction. Some greens will also receive new undulations and shaping. The project is slated for completion in early September.
“This is an exciting endeavor for Emerald Greens,” says Andy Green, General Manger at Emerald Greens. “The new greens will provide even more consistent, durable and pristine putting surfaces for superior playability, especially during hot Florida summers.”
Paralleling the greens project, for a limited time, Emerald Greens is offering special “pre-completion” incentives for new members to join and current members to upgrade from social membership.
Since assuming management of Emerald Greens in October 2011, BCG has overseen other capital projects. They include resurfacing tennis courts and adding a splash zone to the pool, new furniture and fire pit on the pool deck, a fitness room and children’s activity area to the Recreation Center building.
Recognized as one of the most welcoming communities on Florida’s Gulf Coast, Emerald Greens has an impressive collection of condominiums, townhomes and vacation villas. 27 holes of championship golf, and other recreational and social amenities, meet with rave reviews from members and resort guests.
Emerald Greens is home to three, distinct nine-hole layouts – Meadow, Cypress and Pine – providing challenges to golfers of all abilities. The peaceful, Dan Maples-design rolls through pine and cypress trees with large, undulating greens, numerous water hazards and an assortment of pot and waste bunkers. Length off the tee is not vital, but each hole places a premium on strategy and accuracy.
The Meadow course boasts the signature par-3, a 158-yard forced carry over water and a bunker to a rolling green for a nerve-wracking tee shot and putt. On the Cypress nine, the 450-yard, par-4 No. 4 hole is a tough test with water left of the fairway and right of the narrow, elevated green. The finishing hole on the Pine course is a 490-yard, par-5 with golfers hitting their approach shots onto a dramatic island green.
An expansive golf practice facility with a double-side driving range and two putting and chipping greens compliment PGA instruction.
Non-golf amenities feature eight lighted tennis courts, heated outdoor swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness center, three casual and formal dining options and event space.
The 25,000 square-foot clubhouse includes a fully-stocked pro shop, bag storage, locker rooms and The Terrace Bar and Grille. Elegant banquet facilities make Emerald Greens the perfect setting for corporate outings, weddings and other social engagements.
