ISABELA, Puerto Rico – May 23, 2012 – Charles Pasarell is leaving one “labor of love” for another, departing after 31 years in management of the BNP Paribas Open pro tour tennis championship so he can devote his full attention to current operations at Royal Isabela, the spectacular new island golf community that he created with his brother, Stanley.
Since 1981, Charles Pasarell has worn many hats for the popular tennis event in Indian Wells, Calif., which hosted the largest combined field of men and women world tour players. He served as tournament director, owner and managing partner, overseeing everything from day-to-day operations to large-range development plans.
“This is the perfect time for me to focus completely on Royal Isabela, our members and guests,” said Pasarell, 68, who enjoyed a stellar junior, collegiate and professional tennis career, winning 18 singles titles and more than 20 doubles titles, including the U.S. National Indoor singles and doubles championships.
Royal Isabela stretches along 426 dramatic, ocean-front acres with cliffs that range in elevation from 150 to 350 feet above sea level, creating an intimate paradise for the custom homes and villas that are planned for the community. The centerpiece of a private gated community and resort golf club, the highly regarded Golf Links at Royal Isabela overlooks the Atlantic.
“Royal Isabela has turned out beautifully,” Pasarell said. “My brother Stanley and I always dreamed about creating a model community for Puerto Rico, a destination that showcases Puerto Rico on a global stage. That dream deserves my full attention at this time.”
Royal Isabela, which curls itself along the rugged cliffs at the northwest edge of Puerto Rico, is 90 minutes from San Juan International Airport and only 20 minutes from Aguadilla International Airport.
Membership to the golf community is by invitation only, but based on availability, others may book the luxury Casitas and while on property, have access to the golf course and clubhouse, the signature restaurant and other guest amenities.
