Watchung Hills’ Luke Graboyes Recognized as 2012 Golfer of the Year
PISCATAWAY, N.J., June 5, 2012…The New Jersey PGA Section (NJPGA), the recognized experts in growing, teaching and managing the game of golf, today announced the prestigious 2012 New Jersey High School All-State Golf Team. Thirty boys (1st team, 2nd team and 3rd team) and 10 girls (1st team) were honored for their outstanding play on the links throughout the season.
The NJPGA has selected a High School All-State Team since 1995, with student-athletes earning points at the following tournaments: Tournament of Champions, Group Sectional, County Championship and Conference/League Championship.
The NJPGA All-State selections are based entirely on points earned at the aforementioned championships, as the NJPGA does not poll coaches, athletic directors or members of the media. For boys, the top 30 point earners in the state from each of the six groups (I, II, III, IV, Non-Public A & Non-Public B) are selected, with the top 10 student-athletes making 1st Team All-State. For girls, the top 10 student-athletes earned 1st team honors.
Luke Graboyes of Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren, N.J., was recognized as the 2012 NJPGA Golfer of the Year. Graboyes had a stellar season with victories in the Group IV Sectional final and the Somerset County Championship. Graboyes tied for 2nd at the Tournament of Champions and finished 3rd in his conference championship.
