GRAYSLAKE, IL-As host course for the 2012 Illinois PGA Section Championship, as well as its previous role as a U.S. Open qualifying venue, Stonewall Orchard Golf Club in Grayslake, IL., has launched its 2012 U.S. Open contest via www.facebook.com/stonewallorchard.
Facebook fans who can guess the winner (and score) at this weekend’s Olympic Club tournament, will get a chance to win a free foursome of golf at Stonewall Orchard.
“Because of our experience as host for the regional and final stage qualifying for the U.S. Open, it was only natural that we celebrate this week’s event with a contest,” says Jeff Pajula, director of golf at Stonewall Orchard. “Golfers are excited about the tournament at Olympic Club, and its going to be the top sports story all week,” he adds. “We thought this would be a fun way to engage our Facebook fans.”
Opened in 1999, the 7,100-yard Stonewall Orchard course was the first Arthur Hills-design in Chicago. Playing through heavily wooded, mature Oak and Pine trees, the course is on rotation as host site of the Illinois PGA Section Championship, along with legendary private clubs Medinah and Olympia Fields. Stonewall Orchard will host this year’s IPGA Section Championship in September.
Stonewall Orchard features natural, rolling landscapes throughout its magnificent 18-hole Lake County layout. The course also features an abundance of tranquil wetlands and wildlife. From the 4,968-yard junior short course to the 7,074-yard, par 72 championship layout, each hole provides its own identity, completely immersing the golfing public into nature.
