(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) – Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday congratulates Dustin Johnson – official spokesman of the Grand Strand’s golf marketing cooperative — on winning the FedEx St. Jude Classic this past Sunday in Memphis.
Johnson fired a sterling final round 66 for the come from behind one-stroke victory – his sixth on the PGA TOUR. The 27-year-old is first player since Tiger Woods (1996-2000) to win in each of his first five seasons on TOUR after leaving college.
Playing in just his second event after a nearly three-month hiatus due to a back injury, the victory marks Johnson as one of the clear favorites for this week’s 112th U.S. Open at Olympic Club in San Francisco.
“Our partnership with Dustin to promote Myrtle Beach as America’s number one golf destination has been fantastic,” says Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “Not only he is one of the best golfers in the world, he’s also a great guy who loves the area and knows well all we offer golf vacationers.”
Johnson appears in various marketing materials including print, radio ads, social media and a 30-second television commercial showcasing his talents and affinity for the Grand Strand area. Johnson owns a home in Myrtle Beach and is active in the community through his foundation. He is a graduate of the area’s Coastal Carolina University and sponsors the General Hackler Championship each spring.
