LPGA pro Michelle McGann joins the Fairway Friends® mentoring program
(PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLORIDA) – EWGA (http://www.ewga.com), the trend-setting organization which enables current and aspiring business and professional women to learn, connect and play through golf, introduces Michelle McGann as the new ambassador for the Fairway Friends® Mentoring Program.
“EWGA’s Fairway Friends® program tackles a key reason why women leave the game – the intimidation factor,” said McGann, a veteran LPGA Tour professional golfer. “I’m excited to work with members to focus on building connections, learning through peers, and encouraging beginners to keep playing.”
In her 24-year career on the LPGA Tour, McGann has claimed seven victories, 69 top 10 finishes and her 4-0 playoff record is tied with Se Ri Pak’s as the best in LPGA history.
The Fairway Friends® mentoring program is designed to assist new golfers in discovering more about the game in a supportive environment. It allows members to interact both on the course and through an online learning program. Within the program, experienced golfers pair up with beginners to help them feel more comfortable on the golf course. It ties into EWGA’s Expand your Fairway of Friends 2012 membership recruitment campaign.
“Michelle is a great representative for the Fairway Friends® mentoring program and the EWGA,” says Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA. “She is dedicated to generating women’s interest in golf and supporting the EWGA’s ‘women helping women’ mantra, which is the basis of this program. Plus, she’s been a member for nearly 20 years.”
EWGA members will have exclusive access to McGann through a series of forums that include the EWGA’s online web café webinar series and special appearances at events such as the 2012 EWGA Championship Finals, the 2013 Annual Conference and the “Mingling with Michelle” advice column for skill development and tips.
In addition, one lucky chapter will have the opportunity to host Michelle at a chapter event by getting more women golfers in the game and into mentoring relationships. The EWGA currently has 130 chapters located in nearly every metropolitan area in America.
