Friday deadline to register for event that is part of N.J. Beer & Food Festival June 22-23
(HARDYSTON, N.J.) June 12, 2012 – With an array of great prizes, contests and beer samplings at various locations on the courses, Crystal Springs Resort will host the fourth annual Brews & Birdies Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 23, one of the highlights of the two-day New Jersey Beer & Food Festival being held at the property.
The tournament will be limited to the first 108 entrants, per course, and the deadline to register is Friday (June 15).
The 18-hole tournament, which begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., will be played over two of Crystal Springs’ seven award-winning golf courses. Crystal Springs Golf Club, a Robert von Hagge layout, and Wild Turkey Golf Club, a Robert Rulewich design, will host competitors in the two-person scramble format. At 4 p.m., the top two teams will participate in a one-hole playoff to determine the overall tournament champion.
Closest-to-the-pin and long drive contests will add to the round’s enjoyment, as will beer samplings at designated locations on the courses. Prizes include two $200 Bottle King gift cards, a mixed case of craft beers from participating breweries at the Festival, and two certificates for rounds of golf at Crystal Springs’ Ballyowen Golf Club (rated “Best Public Golf Course in the State” of New Jersey by several publications, including Golfweek, and one of the Top 50 Public Courses in the US by Conde Nast’s GolfWorld Magazine).
Entry fee is $195 for play on Wild Turkey and $170 for play on Crystal Springs. In addition to the golf, the entry fee includes a shared cart, range balls, the beer samplings along the course, and entry into the Festival’s main event from 3 to 7 p.m. on the ninth hole of Cascades Golf Course. The Festival will feature a barbecue, more than 120 varieties of beer from 40-plus breweries, live music and more.
Since opening in 1991, Crystal Springs Golf Club has been widely recognized as New Jersey’s most challenging and dramatic golf course. The course contains design features found nowhere else in the world and an incredible blend of rugged mountain terrain, towering grass mounds and breathtaking views.
Wild Turkey Golf Club is the Resort’s second Rulewich design. Like his critically acclaimed Ballyowen, Wild Turkey takes advantage of the natural landscape to offer a wide variety of playing terrain. However, Wild Turkey is a par 71, 7,202-yard parkland course with a distinctly different feel than the wide expanse, links-style Ballyowen. Wild Turkey takes golfers through wooded areas, lakes and quarries, making dramatic elevation changes.
