Willett’s win at the BMW International Classic is powered by steady putting

with an Odyssey Black Series-i #1

CARLSBAD, Calif., June 26, 2012 – Odyssey®, the #1 Putter in Golf®, announces that staff professional Danny Willett used an Odyssey putter to win the BMW International Classic at the Golf Club Gut Larchenhof in Cologne, Germany on Sunday. Willett’s victory, the first of the 24-year-old’s young professional career, marks the 12th win for Odyssey on the European Tour this year, four times the nearest competitor. It also marks the 22nd victory across the six major world Tours for the putter brand in 2012.

A native of Sheffield, England, Willett claimed his first Tour title in dramatic fashion, claiming the victory on the fourth playoff hole in the driving wind and rain in Cologne. After 19 top-ten finishes, Willett, the former number one amateur, reached the top of the leaderboard at the BMW International Classic with solid putting with his precision-crafted Odyssey Black Series Tour-i #1 putter.

“We are thrilled that Danny won in Germany with his trusted Odyssey putter. His performance in tough weather conditions substantiates the trust and confidence elite players have in Odyssey products,” said Chris Koske, Global Business Director for Odyssey Golf. “With more wins across the world’s Tours than any other putter brand, Odyssey continues to validate its position as #1 on Tour, #1 in wins and #1 when it counts most.”

Odyssey putters have been put in play 1,294 times on the European Tour this season, accounting more than 44.3 percent of overall player usage-more than double that of the nearest competitor. This week at Golf Club Gut Larchenhof, Odyssey led the putter count with 38.5 percent of putters in the field, two times that of the nearest competing putter brand.

Since 2005 Odyssey putters have been the world’s leader in tour wins, tour usage and top tens around the globe. In 2012, overall usage across the six major Tours tops 33 percent.

With more than 60 percent of players using Odyssey on the Japan LPGA this weekend, Odyssey also captured a victory at the Earth Mondahmin Cup where the winner used an Odyssey Black Series TD IX #2.
