(ORLANDO, FL) – The First Tee of Central Florida (TFTCF) announces Tom Lawrence has been appointed Executive Director.
A five-year veteran of The First Tee Network, Lawrence joins TFTCF from The First Tee of St. Johns County (FL). He will be tasked with leading all aspects of the chapter’s day-to-day operations, including staff supervision, fiscal management, fundraising and growing community awareness of The First Tee’s mission to impart life skills to children through golf.
“We’re thrilled to have Tom leading The First Tee of Central Florida,” says Matt Certo, TFTCF President of the Board of Directors. “He possesses an impressive range of skills and proficiencies that are crucial to quickly establishing the TFTCF as the region’s preeminent youth development organization.”
“I am truly excited to be a part of the team and bring The First Tee to Central Florida,” adds Lawrence. “With so many young people facing tough challenges at both home and school, the program teaches core values and promotes healthy habits to help them overcome life’s everyday obstacles.”
Lawrence holds degrees from Flagler College and the Springfield College School of Human Services. He is active with a number of other non-profit organizations like the Kiwanis Club and United Way.

About The First Tee of Central Florida
The First Tee of Central Florida (TFTCF), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth development organization dedicated to providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Children ages 7 to 17 can join TFTCF to learn the game of golf along with The First Tee Life Skills Program. TFTCF’s host facility is Hunters Creek Golf Club in Kissimmee. It features a challenging 18-hole course with five sets of tees ranging from 5,265 to 7,268 yards and complete practice area.
