VIRIGINIA BEACH, Va. – Former PGA of America President Brian Whitcomb has joined golf industry leaders Mary Bea Porter-King and Renee Powell on the Scooter Pines Holdings, LLC Advisory Board. In his capacity on the advisory board, Whitcomb will provide the multi-media company with input on golf-related products and services.
Scooter Pines, which includes former LPGA star and current NBC/Golf Channel personality Dottie Pepper as a partner, launched a series of children’s books earlier this year featuring a golf ball character, Bogey. The first book, Bogey Tees Off: A Lesson About Being Truthful, was co-written by Pepper and Scott Fuller and illustrated by Kenneth Templeton. The company is planning a series of 18 books and is also developing additional products around the character.
“We are truly thrilled to have some of the top minds in the golf business working with us to further the great messages we are conveying through Bogey,” said Robert Levin, managing partner of Scooter Pines. “Brian is known throughout the golf community as a caring, passionate leader. We look forward to having his enthusiastic support behind Bogey.”
Whitcomb served as the 35th PGA President in 2006-2007. Based in Bend, Ore., Whitcomb owns and operates Lost Tracks Golf Club. He also designed and built The 500 Club in Phoenix, which he operates with Tom Sneva, winner of the 1983 Indianapolis 500.
“It is a privilege to be involved in something that is so wholesome and good,” said Whitcomb. “I hope that I can add some insight to the cause through my many years in and around the game of golf.”
In addition to Bogey Tees Off: A Lesson About Being Truthful, Scooter Pines Holdings has developed two posters featuring Bogey and golf ball themes to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation and Navy SEAL Foundation. For more information on the company and these products, visit www.bogeyteesoff.com.
