Pinehurst, NC — July 6, 2012 — The Little Linksters Association for Junior Golf Development, a 501c3 nonprofit organization out of Deltona, FL is partnering with GolfNet to deliver a virtual golf tournament charity golf tournament using GolfNet’s vTour® technology. The event will be held from the July 5 through July 22, 2012 and aims to attract golfers nationwide who value the importance of junior golf development.

“Kids start golf far too late in life,” says PGA Professional Brendon Elliott, Owner and Director of Instruction, Little Linksters, LLC and the founder of the nonprofit, Little Linksters Association for Junior Golf Development. “With all that the game of golf offers, the values and life lessons it teaches along with giving young children a sense of self discovery, accomplishment and individuality, we need to get kids into the game sooner; much, much sooner.” Elliott is a 2010 & 2011 US Kids Golf Top 50 Kids Teacher as well as the 2011 & 2012 North Florida PGA Junior Golf Leader award winner.

Little Linksters’ mission is to introduce young children ages 3-8 to the game of golf to enrich their lives by teaching life’s positive values. The junior golf initiative started in July of 2008 and uses a mix of online instruction, private lessons, and contests through its for-profit, Little Linksters, LLC to keep kids excited about golf. The nonprofit, Little Linksters Association for Junior Golf Development oversees the Little Linksters “mobile” program that is brought to kids at various locations including city parks, YMCA’s, daycares, golf courses and more. The nonprofit is also responsible for the Little Linksters “Tour” which is an introductory, non-competitive tournament series geared toward kids ages 3-8. The goal of the Little Linksters Association for Junior Golf Development is to put in place its program and “Tour” nationwide by the end of 2012 and additionally launch its Little Linksters Certified Instructor program as well.

“The fundraising efforts are to help with all the costs associated with putting our certified instructor program together and providing equipment to run our program in those instructors’ hands” explains Elliott.

The main fundraiser for the Little Linksters Association of Junior Golf Development is the Little Golf, Big Purpose 108 Hole Marathon golf event. The vTour® will be help Little Linksters reach golfers and potential contributors from across the country that traditional golf tournaments cannot accommodate. All participants will be able to play a round at a local course and then post their score online.

“Using our vTour® technology, Little Linksters can display sponsors through banner advertisements, oversee tournament operations from our web site, and get assistance from former PGA professionals,” says Ryan Carriage, Director of Charity vTours®, GolfNet. “We are able to provide a unique opportunity for charities while also giving golfers a unique and interactive alternative to traditional golf tournaments.”

vTour® technology was developed over two years ago to provide a social media community for golfers across the country to compete and interact with each other. Golfers can play a round of golf at a local course, post their score online through their GolfNet account, and win prizes. An equal playing field is ensured by factoring in the course slope and rating, applying the golfer’s USGA Handicap Index™, and forcing golfers to have their score attested. The Callaway Scoring System is used for events that do not require a handicap.
