15th Annual Event Scheduled for July 20-22
Augusta, GA (July 10, 2012) – Forest Hills Golf Club (theforesthillsgolfcourse.com), the vintage Donald Ross design established in 1926, will host the 15th Annual Augusta City Amateur Tournament July 20-22, according to Forest Hills General Manager Brad Parker.
The Augusta City Amateur is the sixth of nine amateur events on the spring/summer 2012 Regions Bank Tour, now in its 24th year. The tournament’s 2011 winner Lee Knox is expected to defend his championship. Knox is an Augusta native and a member of the University of Alabama golf team.
Says Parker, “We’re delighted to carry on the spirit of elite amateur golf at Forest Hills so notably spawned by Bobby Jones, and look forward to an eventful three days of competition.”
Forest Hills Golf Club famously was the site of Bobby Jones beginning his Grand Slam of Golf with a win at the Southeastern Open in 1930.
