Myrtle Beach Area Golf Trail Offers Award-Winning Golf, Dining and Accommodations

July 10, 2012, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Results of a June survey of golfers placed Caledonia Golf and Fish Club as the top-ranked course and one of six golf courses on the 12-course Waccamaw Golf Trail to place among the “Top 25” in the July monthly rankings by the Myrtle Beach Golf Insider. The top 25 was reported by www.mbgolfinsider.com this week, based on more than 450 independent post-play reviews for the previous month from visiting golfers.

Other courses in the Waccamaw Golf Trail that were ranked include True Blue Golf Plantation (4th), TPC of Myrtle Beach (6th), Willbrook Plantation (13th), River Club (21st) and the Tradition Club (22nd).

Golfers are asked to use a 10-point scale to assess their experience in a variety of categories. These unbiased reviews are made available to golfers before they book their tee times.

The Waccamaw Golf Trail includes 12 resort courses located within a 16-mile stretch along the southern tier of the Grand Strand. The other courses that comprise the Trail are Blackmoor Golf Club, Heritage Club, Litchfield Country Club, Pawleys Plantation, Wachesaw Plantation East and Wedgefield Plantation. All of the courses received at least an eight-point ranking out of a 10-point maximum.

“The Waccamaw Golf Trail offers some of the best golf courses available to the public anywhere,” said John Rusher, Waccamaw Trail executive director. “No other golf trail in the country can match our awards, our affordability and our beautiful location on the Hammock Coast. All of our golf courses are within a 16-mile stretch, with an outstanding selection of restaurants and accommodations nearby.”

The list of accolades for these courses includes GOLF Magazine’s “America’s Top 100,” Golf for Women’s “Top 25 in America,” six 4½-star courses and one of only three 5-star courses in the southeast as rated by Golf Digest.
