Developmental circuit expands to seven tournaments in five states
(HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.) – International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) – one of the leading competitive circuits for elite golfers grades 5-12 – announces the fall 2012 schedule for the “Discovery Tour” includes seven events in five states.
The Discovery Tour, designed for ages eight to 12, is held in conjunction with IJGT events. This arrangement makes it convenient for families with golfers on both tours. Each course on the Discovery Tour averages 2,200 – 2,500 yards.
Schedule events are:
• Sept. 8 at Hilton Head National Golf Club (Bluffton, SC)
• Sept. 18 at Blue Heron Pines (Cologne, NJ)
• Sept. 29 at Shipyard Golf Club (Hilton Head Island, SC)
• Sept. 30 at Timber Banks Golf Club (Baldwinsville, NY)
• Oct. 20 at Penn State Golf Club (State College, PA)
• Oct. 27 at Hershey Links Golf Club (Hummelstown, PA)
• Oct. 27 at Oxmoor Valley (Birmingham, AL).
“We launched the Discovery Tour last season with three events and the response was incredible,” says Ryley Hendry, Chief Operating Officer of Junior Sports Corporation, owner/operator of the IJGT. “Our continued focus is offering low pressure, enjoyable tournaments and expanding our schedule allows more playing opportunities for younger golfers.”
Participants are encouraged to use a caddy during each round. Caddies can carry a participant’s bag, assist with rules and offer advice. There is a 10-stroke limit for each hole. Rulings resulting in disqualification on other tours are only enforced with stroke penalties.
