WEST CHESTER, PA. (August 9, 2012) – With summer golf in full swing and an exciting season of fall golf on the horizon, the Inside Golf crew headed south to Myrtle Beach and put together a special four-show travel excursion through America’s golf capitol. Four shows, beginning Sunday, August 12, will highlight some of the best golf courses and favorite attractions along what is known as The Grand Strand.
“For many years Inside Golf has been making visits to the Myrtle Beach area to show what we have to offer to the folks back in the Greater Philadelphia area,” says Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “Now we are making a big push to highlight fall golf along the Grand Strand and this series of shows will definitely get the people thinking about planning a trip down here.”
The four shows begin with a week of shows from Myrtle Beach National, the upscale collection of three great courses on Route 501 in the middle of the Grand Strand — plus the ever-expanding collection of courses now managed by the Myrtle Beach National group.
Beginning Sunday, August 19 the emphasis shifts to the dynamic duo of courses on the southern end of the Myrtle Beach area — True Blue and Caledonia. Shows from there mean a reunion with general manager Bob Seganti, a Philadelphia area/Delaware County native.
The third week brings the cameras to the amazing collection of four courses at Barefoot Resort. With architects like Tom Fazio, Pete Dye, Davis Love III and Greg Norman doing the design work, it comes as no surprise these four courses are among the finest in the area.
Finally the show arrives at TPC of Myrtle Beach — another Tom Fazio design that has just gotten better with age. This year, once again, it is the site of the final round of the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship during the last week of August.
Inside Golf is a weekly magazine-style show hosted by longtime KYW News Radio anchor Harry Donahue. The program spotlights various public and private golf clubs by exploring the uniqueness of each facility and providing professional tips and instruction. Inside Golf airs four times weekly; Sunday at 5:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., Monday at 4:30 p.m., and Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. on Comcast SportsNet in the Greater Philadelphia region and also can be seen any time via the On Demand function of Comcast Digital.
