BLACK BUTTE RANCH, Ore., Aug. 21, 2012 – A special couples weekend of golf, food, wine and fun will mark the inaugural “Grapes & Golf” event at Black Butte Ranch in Central Oregon, Sept. 21-23.

The Grapes & Golf weekend festivities include an opening wine and cheese reception (Friday evening), two tournament rounds of golf with cart, range balls each day, a four-course wine dinner, two breakfasts and a western barbecue awards luncheon (Sunday afternoon), plus prizes and gifts.

The entry fee is $590 per couple, not including on-site accommodations, which are available at a 15 percent discount off standard lodging rates. The event will be limited to 64 couples with entries accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Golf tournament participants must have a valid USGA handicap.

Saturday’s round of golf is scheduled for Glaze Meadow Golf Course, which reopened this summer after a dramatic $3.75 million renovation by noted architect John Fought. At 7,007 yards and set amidst striking strands of Ponderosa Pines and Aspen forests, Glaze Meadow now plays longer by more than 400 yards and features many striking changes, including the rebuilding of all 18 greens and tee boxes and greatly improved sightlines and shotmaking options.

Sunday’s round takes place on 7,002-yard Big Meadow Course, a popular layout that has played host to numerous Oregon golf championships. The course, originally designed by Robert Muir Graves in 1970 and renovated by Damian Pascuzzo four years ago, provides a classic mountain golf experience.

For participating couples who wish to play a practice round on Friday, a special $55/person rate is available, including cart and range balls. Starting times and choice of course are based on availability. For those staying at Black Butte Ranch, additional discounted rounds are available both before and after the event.

There are nearly 115 lodging properties at Black Butte Ranch to choose from, ranging from two-person hotel-style rooms to luxurious six-bedroom residences.
