Flushing, Mich., August 20, 2012 – King Par announced today that Dylan Straka from Flushing, Michigan was this year’s recipient of its King Par Scholarship.
The King Par Scholarship was started in 2009 and is awarded to an employee or family member of an employee of King Par. The $2000 scholarship is open to students entering their first year of college. The scholarship selection process is based on academic, extracurricular activities and an essay each applicant is required to write.
“The scholarship program is just a small way for us to help an employee defray the cost of college,” said Ryan Coffell, CEO, King Par. “Dylan works for King Par in our ice cream shop and has an excellent work ethic and attitude. We wish him all the best in college.”
Straka will attend Mott Community College in the fall and then enroll in Michigan State University in January, 2013. He attended Flushing High School and graduated with high honors. Straka participated in several clubs and organizations throughout his four years. He served as second President of his class and second Vice President of Student Council. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Rotary Interact, Spirit Club Chair, and a District Board Member for Health, Drug and Safety and was also on the Youth Advisory Council.
