“Is it really necessary to warm up and stretch before or after a round of golf?”
Much of the confusion comes from a misinterpretation of research on warm up. These studies found that warming the muscle groups used in the golf swing by itself has no effect on range of motion, but that when the warm up is followed by stretching there is an increase in range of motion.
Many people misinterpreted this finding to mean that stretching before exercise prevents injuries. A better interpretation is that warm up then stretching prevents injury, whereas improper warm up prior to stretching may not prevent injury.
If injury prevention is the primary objective all the evidence suggests that using Golflexx to properly warm up THEN stretch is the key to a better range of motion and prevents injury.
Studies do support that range of motion can be increased by a single fifteen to thirty second stretch for each muscle group per day. However, some people require a longer duration or more repetitions. Research also supports the idea that the optimal duration and frequency for stretching may vary by muscle group. We have found that holding your stretches for at least 20 seconds using Golflexx will optimize your muscle range. Use Golflexx daily, even when you’re NOT golfing, to keep your muscles ready for the next round.
