Stafford, Va. – The Middle Atlantic PGA recently hosted its 87th Section Professional Championship presented by Club Car, Mercedes-Benz and OMEGA. The top players from this event advanced to the PGA Professional National Championship (PNC) to be held in June of 2013 at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon. Out of a field of 165, eleven players join three exempt players from the Middle Atlantic Section to play on the national stage.
Three past champions of the PGA PNC are MAPGA members and are exempt into the 2013 PNC – 2001 Champion Wayne DeFrancesco (Columbia, Md.) of Woodmont Country Club; 2007 Champion Chip Sullivan (Troutville, Va.) of Hanging Rock Golf Club; and 2011 Champion David Hutsell (Lutherville, Md.) of The Elkridge Club.
Joining DeFrancesco, Sullivan and Hutsell is a new crew of players including 2012 MAPGA Professional Champion Faber Jamerson of Falling Rock Country Club (Appomattox, Va.); Geoff Montross (Fairfax, Va.) of International CC; Josh Speight (West Point, Va.) of The Club at Viniterra; Mark Evenson (Ellicott City, Md.) of The Suburban Club; Eric Cobb (Verona, Va.) of Ingleside Resort; Dennis Winters (Bishopville, Md.) of River Run GC; Sean English (Westminister, Md.) of Caves Valley GC; Dirk Schultz (Hagerstown, Md.) of Beaver Creek CC; Scott Shapin (Rockville, Md.) of Kenwood G&CC; Jim Schouller (Hagerstown, Md.) of Fountain Head CC; and Daniel Kinn (Ashburn, Va.) of Dick’s Sporting Goods.
The eleventh spot as well as the third alternate spot for the PGA PNC came down to a sudden death playoff. Kinn along with Chad Moseley (Reston, Va.) of Belle Haven CC and Brendon Post (Lincoln University, Pa.) of ClubGolf battled for the eleventh spot with Kinn coming out on top. Moseley has the first alternate position and Post is the second alternate. For the third alternate position, Jason Toryk (Winchester, Va.) of Winchester CC survived the three-way playoff with Dave Ambrose (Chevy Chase, Md.) of Columbia CC and Bud Lintelman (Purcellville, Va.) of Westpark GC.
