A recent National Golf Foundation survey indicated that course condition, price of the green fee and good tee time availability are the top three persuaders for golfers to book a round.
The challenge for the Northern California Golf Association and other associations is to adapt to the changing ways golfers book and play golf. The meteoric rise of online reservation technology has surprised the golf industry while the golfer is already adopting the online and mobile booking availability.
The Northern California Golf Association, formed in 1901, is one of the most established golf associations in the US and with over 175,000 registered golfers; the NCGA is an important player on the American golf scene.
The NCGA has therefore contracted with GolfSwitch, the world’s leader in Online Tee Time Technology, to provide the NCGA member courses a booking portal through the association’s websites.
The partnership involves the NCGA member courses and has several goals. It looks to increase local green fee revenues by up to 30%, control online pricing and protect local course databases, optimize pricing based on supply and demand, increase customer loyalty by driving the traffic to the course websites and keep online tee time revenue with the courses. This increased revenue will help in supporting the NCGA programs and grow the game of golf in California.
Doug Reichel, CEO GolfSwitch Inc.: “The NCGA is one of the most prestigious and forward thinking golf associations in the US…A tribute to my team that keeps the company moving forward with new tools, marketing programs and promotions that attract organizations like the NCGA to GolfSwitch. I am personally delighted to be able to provide the NCGA with the best online tools out there which will allow them to grow the NCGA, provide extra revenue for the clubs and ultimately grow the game of golf.”
The NCGA will use all of their marketing opportunities, newsletters, e-blasts, magazine, website, mobile and social platforms to promote the online marketing program developed in cooperation with GolfSwitch.
The NCGA will offer local golf members a portal tee time booking website where they can book rounds of golf within the region at favorable green fee rates. All revenue the NCGA generates from online bookings is being put back into the association to fund initiatives to grow the game in the state.
Through the collaboration GolfSwitch has connected 24 courses to the NCGA online portal engine. GolfSwitch offers a fully integrated suite of course centric tools and seamlessly connects to over 60 plus different tee sheet providers. The GolfSwitch tools will allow the affiliated courses to manipulate and control pricing towards local golfers enticing these golfers to join the NCGA network and avail of a host of benefits, let alone preferential green fee rates.
