High-quality Japanese manufacturer making inroads on PGA Tour
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (August 27, 2012) – Three of the 11 players who used Nippon Shafts in their irons while competing in The Barclays over the weekend finished in the top 10 at Bethpage Black in New York.
The winner of last week’s Wyndham event – who also used Nippon Shafts in his irons in that tournament – took the lead into Sunday’s final round of the PGA TOUR’s first FedEx Cup Playoff event and finished solo third. Two other Nippon Shaft players finished tied for 10th.
“Nippon Shaft is very happy that more than a quarter of the players who started the first event of this year’s FedEx Cup Playoffs finished among the top 10, including last week’s champion,” said Hiro Fukuda, head of Sales and Marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We congratulate them and wish them the best as they continue on in the playoffs.”
Just two years after Nippon Shaft introduced its high quality products on the PGA Tour, the brand is becoming known for its performance in the hands of the world’s best players.
Eleven of the 123 players who teed off at The Barclays last Thursday – nearly 10 percent of the field – used Nippon Shaft steel shafts in their irons.
“Nippon Shaft has worked quietly but tirelessly over the last two years to show players the benefits our shafts can bring to their games and that effort is beginning to pay off for them and for us,” Fukuda said. “More and more of the world’s top players are beginning to perceive the integrity and quality of a Nippon Shaft-manufactured product.”
Nippon Shaft products are available either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands.
In addition, Nippon Shaft products are available through Shaftology – Nippon Shaft’s dedicated clubfitter network – and through the custom club departments of top club manufacturers.
Nippon Shaft manufactures all of its steel and graphite shafts in a state-of-the-art factory at its headquarters in Yokohama, Japan. The company’s integrated production lines are strictly monitored and controlled with thorough checks conducted responsibly through the entire production process, Fukuda said. As a result, Nippon Shaft is able to control high product quality – from material selection to final testing.
Nippon Shaft has more than 100 professional victories worldwide. Based in Yokohama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia, where it controls 80 percent of the golf shaft market.
Nippon Shaft is a privately-held subsidiary of NHK Spring Co. LTD, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer. Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in San Diego.
