Project starts today; players can still play full 18 with the resort’s extra hole in place
(SUN VALLEY, IDAHO) – The No. 1 hole on Sun Valley’s Trail Creek Course will be closed effective today for a significant remodel, with the resort implementing a contingency hole to enable a full 18-hole experience for players.
The par-5, 530-yard 1st hole will receive a re-designed green, a widened and re-contoured fairway landing area off the tee, and a fairway bunker and pond-side green will be made smaller.
Project completion is scheduled for July, 2013.
“Sun Valley is excited to begin the Trail Creek Course first-hole renovation,” said Rick Hickman, the resort’s director of golf. “The hole will be made more player friendly, with improved playability and conditions, and without taking a hole away from golfers, thanks to our extra hole. This is the latest in our ongoing commitment to ensure Sun Valley is a world-class golf resort and destination.”
Sun Valley features 45 holes of golf combined on the Trail Creek (18 holes), Elkhorn (18) and White Cloud (9) courses, as well as a 25-acre practice facility, two clubhouses, an 18-hole putting course, and many other golf amenties.
