Centennial, Colo. (September 20, 2012) – GolfTEC, the world leader in golf improvement, has a new national champion on its honor roll. Mark Palmer, a product of the Vernon Hills, Ill., GolfTEC Improvement Center, recently captured the Golf Channel Am Tour Senior National Championship.
Palmer, 55, who works with the Vernon Hills center’s Director of Instruction, Kurt Kollmeyer, birdied four of the final six holes on the famed Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, chipping in for birdie on the final hole to win by three shots. The Winthrop Harbor resident, whose game has sharpened notably through instruction at GolfTEC, shot rounds of 74-68-75-75 for 292, a total of 6 over par.
“What a terrific accomplishment for Mark,” said Kollmeyer, who has been Palmer’s coach the past 10 years. “He is a great example of how students take what they learn in the center and put it into play on the golf course. What is even more impressive is that Mark did it under the pressure of a national tournament.”
When Palmer began his GolfTEC lesson plan, he already was a single-digit golfer, but wanted to become good enough to win amateur tournaments. His initial goal was to win his club championship, which he has since done repeatedly, and he has gone on to win Chicago District Golf Association titles, as well.
“Working with Mark is really no different than any of the other students at GolfTEC,” said Kollmeyer, who has been a Certified Coach since 1999 and now manages four GolfTEC centers along the North Shore. “The key is to find out what each student is after. Some just want to hit the ball better. You teach to those goals. You work on a lot of the same things, but with Mark, it’s just a matter of working on them at higher level than a 25 handicap.”
Kollmeyer said that although the Chicago golf season is coming to a close, he and Palmer will continue to work together regularly. “This is a good time for golfers to focus on improving their swing,” Kollmeyer said, “so next spring they can enjoy your game more, or win tournaments, depending on their goals.”
The undisputed leader in high-tech golf improvement, GolfTEC has a 95 percent success rate among its students. All GolfTEC lessons are taught one-on-one in private, indoor bays that maximize the learning experience. GolfTEC utilizes proprietary teaching technology and the skills of its Certified Personal Coaches to help golfers improve their skills and increase enjoyment of the game.
The key is GolfTEC’s proprietary g-SWING system, which combines digital video with motion measurement, capturing body positions at 24 different points throughout the swing. A simple color-coded display guides instruction and reinforces swing changes. The lesson doesn’t end at the center’s doors. Using the personalized, online Player Performance Center, every student can review his lessons-including full video and the coach’s instructions-anytime and anywhere over the internet.
