Alexandria, VA – September 24, 2012 – The Club Foundation is pleased to announce its 2012 Faculty Interns, Stephanie Bradley from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, and Neil Marrin from James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA. The goal of The Club Foundation Faculty Internship Program is to increase the club management expertise among hospitality educators through focused industry specific education and a comprehensive club training experience.
The first portion of the program is an orientation, held in conjunction with the CMAA Leadership/Legislative Conference in September. Through the orientation, interns receive an in-depth look at the services and opportunities available through CMAA and The Club Foundation. In addition, faculty have the opportunity to tour clubs in the local area; network with CMAA Chapter leadership; and attend education relevant to the club industry, including tax, legislative and leadership building sessions. This year, the faculty interns visited several highly distinguished clubs in the Washington, DC, region including the Metropolitan Club, Army Navy Country Club and Congressional Country Club. In addition, interns receive a library of resources to assist them in teaching club courses.
The second portion of the program involves a 40-hour internship at a club (or clubs) in their local area to gain a better understanding of the unique qualities of the club environment. The in-club portion is a crucial part of this program as it affords faculty members the opportunity to gain a better understanding of clubs through a behind the scenes look at the inner workings of a club.
