New TifEagle greens, TrackMan golf radar highlight upgrades at premier Palm Beaches private community
(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) – Old Palm Golf Club – the premier private and exclusive residential community in the Palm Beaches – will reopen its Raymond Floyd signature course on Nov. 1 following extensive course enhancements and the addition of the cutting edge TrackMan golf radar in its 33-acre “Golf Studio.”
All putting surfaces on the golf course, three regulation length practice holes and Old Palm’s locally famous 19th hole have been re-turfed with TifEagle Bermuda to provide faster green speeds and truer rolls.
Green complexes on several holes were re-contoured to slope from back to front and enlarged to improve approach-shot receptivity. Bunkers throughout the 7,401-yard layout underwent upgrades, with a handful of new bunkers installed to create more strategic options and definition.
“We are committed to providing our members with the best playing surfaces and course conditions,” says Bud Taylor, Old Palm’s Director of Golf. “The TifEagle greens offer a pure short game experience that players of all skill levels will appreciate.”
Old Palm is also dedicated to its members’ game improvement, and recently installed the TrackMan golf radar in the Golf Studio. A revolutionary golf swing and ball flight analysis device, it uses Doppler radar to generate precise club and ball flight measurements. Used by the PGA TOUR, The R&A, professional golfers and leading collegiate teams, TrackMan has set the industry standard for accuracy in golf.
“With TrackMan our members can clearly track their shots, adjust their swings accordingly and realize more consistency and better scores on the course,” adds Taylor. “It is also a tremendous asset in club-fitting, as we can fine-tune different elements, such as clubface loft and shaft flex, to maximize performance.”
One of the most complete golf instruction and training facilities in the U.S., the Golf Studio anchors a spacious double-ended range, V-1 equipped hitting bay, short-game area and three regulation practice holes – a par 3, 4, and 5 – on which golfers can replicate every shot and angle they encounter on the par-72 course.
Old Palm’s tournament-caliber golf course presents an enticing blend of power and precision-oriented holes. The front nine is routed through sweeping savannahs and wetlands while the back nine is carved through indigenous palm and pine trees. Traditional square tee boxes give the course a classic feel, and large landing areas and subtly-elevated greens emphasize approach shot values.
