Features include GPS range finder, tee-time bookings, scorecard and more
Scottsdale, Ariz. (October 24, 2012) – Bringing the “World of Troon” straight to your mobile device, Troon® has launched free iPhone and Android applications for 100 golf courses across the globe including locations in the Americas, Australia, Europe and the Middle East. Customers can easily find apps for their favorite courses by downloading the “Troon App,” which conveniently connects users to all Troon-managed course apps, or by searching the golf facility’s name on the App Store for Apple devices and on Google Play for Android devices (www.troongolf.com/apps.html)
Exciting app features enable guests and members of Troon-managed facilities to use an interactive GPS caddie to survey each hole using the full aerial zoom feature; range finder with a shot target that calculates yardages to landing areas, bunkers and greens; “pro tips” detailing the best way to play each hole; digital scorecard for easy scoring; tee time portal for booking future rounds; special offers feature and more. The applications are designed for individual facilities, delivering customized information unique to each golf course. Members and guests may also use the apps to engage with their social connections through Facebook and share their golf experiences in real time.
“The use of mobile applications is growing rapidly and becoming a significant part of many people’s everyday lives,” stated Tim Schantz, Troon’s executive vice president, global development officer. “The ability to enrich the experience of our customers with creative iPhone and Android apps will further set our properties apart from the competition.”
The Troon App serves as the perfect complement to individual facility apps by bringing them all together into one convenient application. Golfers can use the Troon App to easily find available apps for their favorite Troon courses; book tee times; search a facility directory that gives turn-by-turn directions to each golf course; and also access Troon Golf & Travel magazine and other information on exciting programs like the Troon Card, Troon Family Golf and Troon Rewards.
The mobile applications are licensed by the Apps Broadcast Network (ABN), which covers multiple verticals in the golf industry. Adding Troon to the network of apps is an expansive step toward ABN becoming the industry’s leader in mobile applications.
