(Londonderry, New Hampshire) – Danish brand ECCO – a leading global manufacturer of innovative footwear – announces that it has re-signed JB Hansen, who will compete in the brand’s newly launched Tour Hybrid model throughout 2013, his rookie season on the European Tour.
As part of this multi-year agreement, Hansen will also showcase the ECCO logo on his shirt collar and participate in company marketing initiatives. The 22-year-old Dane began his professional career on the ECCO Tour. Competing on the Challenge Tour in 2012, he recorded six top-10 finishes, including three runner-ups. Most recently Hansen placed a T2 at the season-ending Apulia San Domenico Grand Final to secure the No. 4 spot on the Challenge Tour rankings.
“The key to my performance has been the consistency of my swing and putting, which have both been really good the latter part of this season,” says Hansen. “I’ve been wearing ECCO and everything about my game has just gotten a little better, to where I’ve now earned the chance to play with the top guys.”
The first-ever classic crossover golf shoe, Tour Hybrid features a traditional leather upper design atop the award-winning Street outsole featuring the ECCO dynamic traction system (E-dts). It combines hand-crafted elegance with advanced shoemaking technologies to create a style which uniquely and seamlessly transitions from the boardroom to the car to the country club.
“JB has quickly risen to prominence on developmental tours in Europe, placing him among a number of young Danish players following in the footsteps of Thomas Bjorn,” says Jesper Thuen, ECCO Global Marketing Manager – Golf. “With his game, style and attitude, he continues to be an excellent ambassador for the ECCO brand.”
Preferred by discerning players worldwide, ECCO golf shoes are also worn in competition by Tour stars Fred Couples, Graeme McDowell, Thomas Bjorn, Thongchai Jaidee, Stuart Appleby, Bradley Dredge, Andreas Hartø, Belén Mozo and Gerina Piller.
