Aldila’s RIP Phenom Shaft Helps Power WGC – HSBC Champ To 15th Career Victory

Players gain maximum distance and shot control via Phenom’s Hyperbolic Flex Zone™

POWAY, Calif. – Powered by the maximum distance and control of Aldila’s RIP Phenom 50 shaft in his driver, the winner of the World Golf Championships – HSBC Champions picked up his 15th win of his professional career and a three year-exemption on the PGA Tour.

He shot a 7-under 65 on the final day to rally from a four-stroke deficit and win by two strokes. The champ finished with a 21-under 267 (69-68-65-65) to card the lowest total in the history of the WGC- HSBC Champions while claiming a $1.2 million first place check. The Sunday payday pushed his season total to nearly $3 million and moved him to fourth spot in the European Tour’s Race to Dubai standings.

The RIP Phenom incorporates Aldila’s Tour proven Reverse Interlaminar Technology® (RIP) with a unique composite construction to create a new and innovative shaft flex profile for maximum distance and control – the Hyperbolic Flex Zone™. RIP Technology repositions the materials and patterns to optimize the performance characteristics of the shaft.

“The Phenom’s Hyperbolic Flex Zone provides a stiff tip section for optimal launch and spin control, with a very firm butt section for an incredibly stable feel, while the center section of the shaft is softer to provide outstanding kick through impact to maximize ball speed,” said Stewart Bahl, Aldila’s Marketing Manager. “The RIP Phenom incorporates the same flex, torque and feel properties that have made the original RIP the leading shaft on the PGA Tour, with a flex profile to achieve unparalleled performance and launch characteristics for better players.”

Through the use of computer modeling technology and exclusive carbon fiber materials, Aldila completely turned golf shaft design and performance inside out. RIP Technology provides a shaft design with optimum flex and torque characteristics with increased cross-sectional stability throughout the tip area for greater shot control.
