Tokyo, Japan, Honma Golf Co., Ltd. – The LPGA announced on October 29, 2012 that HONMA Golf Tour member So Yeon Ryu has mathematically clinched the 2012 Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year honors with three tournaments remaining in the 2012 LPGA season.
Ryu outlasted Lexi Thompson for the top rookie honor on the strength of 14 top 10 finishes in 22 events, including a victory at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic. Ryu is currently 9th position in 2012 money list. The 22 year old earned LPGA Tour membership by winning the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open as a member of the Korea LPGA (KLPGA).
“First of all, I want to give thanks to Se Ri Pak, Hee Won Han, Grace Park and all of the first generation Korean players because they opened up our road and we can follow in their steps. This is a special award that players can challenge once in a career, so it’s an honor to win the award. And more over, I would like to give special thanks to HONMA GOLF team that supported me with the great ARSENALS,” Ryu said.
