PHILADELPHIA — (November 9, 2012) – GolfTalk Live host Tony Leodora will be doing his own version of “island hopping” throughout the month of November, bringing his listeners to some of the most exotic golf destinations in the Western Hemisphere.
Similar to the famous “I will return” pledge of General Douglas MacArthur which preceded his island hopping campaign that led to victory in the Pacific theater by the Allied forces, Leodora will honor his pledge to return to some of his favorite golf destinations. And he will explore a personal new venue.
First stop in GolfTalk Live’s island hopping campaign is the Big Island of Hawaii. The largest island among the Hawaiian Islands, the Big Island is full of fabulous golf — as Leodora discovered on his first visit to America’s 50th state.
“I found golf on the Big Island to be of the finest quality, easily accessible and extremely enjoyable,” said Leodora, as he did the on-site research along what is known as the Kohaloa Coast in order to put together the November 10 show. GolfTalk Live is broadcasting from the lobby of the Marriott Waikoloa Resort and Spa, which is in the middle of a 10 mile stretch of spectacular beachfront resorts and first-class golf.
Representatives from four golf courses, plus the Marriott Resort and the Kohaloa Coast Resort Association will provide the details of what proved to be an amazing golf trip. The four courses reviewed in the show are Hualalai GC, the King’s Course at Waikoloa Beach Resort, the South Course at the Mauna Lani Resort and Mauna Kea GC.
The November 17 show will come from Montego Bay as GolfTalk Live takes part in the Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am, known as “Annie’s Revenge.” The event will be headquartered at the Iberostar Resort on Montego Bay, with play on the famous White Witch and Cinammon Hill golf courses. Tom Jaronski of The Golf Connection, based in Royersford, puts on the event annually and will serve as co-host.
“I played in the event for the first time last year and it was, by far, the most organized and finest pro-am I ever experienced,” said Leodora. “The best part is that a number of teams are from the Greater Philadelphia area.”
After taking a week at home — to unpack and re-pack — GolfTalk Live hits the road again to the exotic and remote northern coast of the Domincan Republic. The Playa Grande GC, with 11 holes clinging to the cliffs above the Atlantic Ocean, is a personal favorite of Leodora. Brian Shipley of Sunshine Services of PA will be aboard to tell what is new in his personal bit of paradise. The Nov. 30 show will come from Black Cat Cigars on Germantown Pike in East Norriton, where it will be recorded during a special GolfTalk Live Party on Friday, Nov. 29. All listeners and friends of GolfTalk Live are invited to the event which runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
All of the “island hopping” shows will be part of special reports in the Blog section of the GolfTalk Live website, www.golftalklive.net. Written under the heading of “Tony’s Test Drive’s”, these stories always provide even more information about the golf destinations than can be heard during the weekly broadcasts.
