Major League Baseball Alumni, Els For Autism Foundation awarded memberships

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (November 8, 2012) … Preferred Golf, the ultimate collection of travel destinations for avid and leisure golfers, has partnered with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, as well as the Els for Autism Foundation, as part of a new campaign to support charitable organizations.

Preferred Golf, with more than 80 world-class golf destinations to offer its members, awarded complimentary memberships to the two groups to help them reach their fundraising goals.

Each player in the MLBPA Alumni now receives a Preferred Golf membership, which allows the association to enhance its membership services. Complimentary Preferred Golf memberships will designated for the Els For Autism Foundation program, as special rewards to sponsors and participants of the year-round “Els For Autism” tournaments.

“Each organization does so many great things for charity,” said Michael Osgood, Director of Preferred Golf. “This is a way we can help the Major League Baseball Players Association Alumni, which supports numerous causes around the country. Through the Els Foundation, we have the opportunity to support the important work of one of its legendary players. And this is just the beginning of these types of special relationships for Preferred Golf.”

One of the first gatherings to capitalize on the new partnerships brought together longtime Major League teammates Fred Lynn, Bobby Grich and Doug DiCinces at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, a Preferred Golf member resort, not far from where the trio played together at Anaheim Stadium for the Angels.

Not only did the three ballplayers benefit from the special services and fees they received as Preferred Golf members, they celebrated Grich recently completing his personal quest to play the “Top 100 Courses In America,” a journey he started in 1989.

“It is an example of how we hope Preferred Golf assists in bringing former Major League greats together,” Osgood said. “We find that they are the kind of golfers who will use the membership, as are so many of the golfers who participate in Els For Autism tournaments. They are all golfers who like to travel to the best resorts and play the best courses. That’s the perfect fit for Preferred Golf.”
