GLENDALE, AZ (Nov. 20, 2012) – The Player Development Program at The Legend at Arrowhead Golf Club has been extremely popular among Phoenix-area golfers over the years. The program offers unlimited use of the outstanding practice facility, and free twilight golf.
With so much usage, the practice facility had begun to show its age, and the number of players in the program had started to dwindle.
“Over the years of top dressing, the range tee had become uneven and bumpy,” said General Manager Lisa McCauley. “We were losing square footage because the rear of the range was sloping. There was a lot of wear and tear in general.”
So Fore Golf Management decided on a complete makeover, and Pro Turf International was hired to do the work.
“We leveled the existing driving range tee and expanded the size with a practice fairway bunker,” said Kip Wolfe of Pro-Turf International. “We constructed a new 6,000 square foot practice putting green and added a new chipping green complex with a greenside bunker. All areas were sodded and the greens were sprigged with Champion.”
The end result is a practice facility that not only looks brand new, but is expanded for all aspects of practice.
“We wanted to make it more of a real and complete practice facility,” said McCauley. “Pro Turf accomplished that. We now have a practice bunker and chipping green located next to the range tee. And they expanded the range, adding seven or eight hitting stations. We are very happy with the work PTI did.”
Golf Course Superintendent Mike Moffett agrees.
“Pro Turf did an outstanding job. We are thrilled, and I know the golfers will be as well,” said Moffett.
The new and improved practice facility was unveiled when the course had its grand re-opening from overseeding last month. And it is a sure bet that the Player Development Program at the Legend at Arrowhead will continue to grow.
