December 2012 (San Diego, CA)- Kicking off the 2013 Future Champions Golf (FCG) World Series schedule, the 6th Annual San Diego Junior Amateur will be held on the first weekend of the new year (January 3rd-5th, 2013). With names like, Chris Williams (#1 Ranked Amateur), Todd Baek (European Challenge Tour Player) and Beau Hossler (2-Time U.S. Open Participant) as past champions, the FCG San Diego Junior Amateur has garnered a reputation as the most prestigious tournament over the “winter break” time-frame for junior golfers.
In 2013, the stakes will be just as high. Not only is the tournament ranked by Golfweek, NJGS, R&A World Amateur Rankings, and Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings but it is also a Junior World Qualifier. The winner of each age division will receive an exemption to play in the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships along with multiple other exemptions to AJGA events. Given what is on the line for participants, the FCG San Diego Junior Amateur has already amassed a highly competitive field of over 300 junior golfers, representing 14 countries and 11 states.
This year, the FCG San Diego Junior Amateur will put the spotlight on four golf courses in San Diego, CA. The first being the Ranch-Meadow circuit at Steele Canyon Golf Club and the other three being the Willow, Oak and Pine Glen golf courses located at the Sycuan Golf Resort. Each golf course offers up a unique set of challenges and all tournament participants are going to have to be at the top of their game in order to come out on top at their respective courses.
Most importantly, Future Champions Golf strives to uphold both a competitive and family-friendly environment. FCG tournaments are a place where all involved, whether it be players, coaches or parents, can enjoy themselves and play golf at the highest level possible. The 2013 FCG San Diego Junior Amateur will be no exception.
