Carlsbad, CA – Polara Golf (www.polaragolf.com) announced today that they will be a sponsor at the 1st Annual Golf Tournament to Honor John Gener and to Benefit the Fight Against Lou Gehrig’s Disease on Saturday, December 8th, at The Vineyard Golf Course in Escondido, CA.
This scramble tournament was organized by Mike Gener, a bullpen catcher for the Colorado Rockies AAA Baseball Team, in honor of his father, John Gener, a former San Diego Police Officer who was recently diagnosed with ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
“When dad was diagnosed with ALS it really hit home for us,” said Mike Gener. “We knew right away what we had to do. As a former San Diego Police Officer, Dad unselfishly dedicated his life to helping others. It was time for us, his friends and family, to do something for him and in honor of him. Dad’s not a quitter, he’s a fighter, and we’re here right alongside him to help fight this battle against this devastating disease and to raise funds so hopefully someday we can find a cure.”
Polara Golf will be donating a sleeve of their Anti-Slice XD golf balls to everyone who participates in the scramble event, and will be holding their popular Straight Drive Challenge to help raise funds for this great cause. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the ALS Association Greater San Diego Chapter. For more information visit http://www.alsasd.org
Polara Golf selects charity golf outings throughout the country to participate in and donates self-correcting golf balls to help golfers of all skill levels hit more fairways, speed up play and make the day a more enjoyable experience. In the Straight Drive Challenge, flags are placed out in the fairway at 160 yards, similar to field goal posts in football, and contestants are given the opportunity to win FREE prizes and coupons for hitting their drives “straight” through the uprights. Due to Polara Golf’s Self-Correcting TechnologyTM, many golfers win.
“Our Self-Correcting golf balls are perfect for scramble events and charity outings like this,” said David Felker, CEO and Head of Technology for Polara Golf. “They remove some of the frustration from the game and allow even the occasional golfer who normally struggles from a
severe hook or slice the chance to have fun and focus on the real reason they are there….to raise money for a great cause like the Fight Against Lou Gehrig’s Disease.”
The raffle and silent auction will feature some great giveaways like new golf equipment and some amazing baseball memorabilia. For more information or to register for the tournament contact Mike Gener at (858) 449-5069 or e-mail him at baseballsd24@yahoo.com.
