Courses at Mission Hills Haikou, Siam Country Club and Chiang Mai Highlands also win awards
(SCOTTSDALE, AZ) – Schmidt-Curley Design – one of the world’s most active and innovative golf course design firms – has been ranked Asia-Pacific’s “Best Golf Course Architect” for the second consecutive year by Asian Golf Monthly.
Co-founded by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley in 1997, Schmidt-Curley has designed more than 80 courses across the Asia-Pacific region. This was the sixth straight year it finished top three in the “Best Architect” category.

Ten-course Mission Hills Haikou – entirely master planned and designed by Schmidt-Curley – ascended to the top of the “Best Golf Resort in Asia-Pacific” category. Its Blackstone Course, host of the 2011 World Cup of Golf, collected “Best Course in China” (second straight year) and “Best Championship Course in Asia-Pacific” accolades. The Shadow Dunes Course was first runner-up for “Best New Course in Asia-Pacific.”
The Plantation Course at Siam Country Club in Pattaya, Thailand was named the “Best Maintained Course in Asia-Pacific.” Chiang Mai Highlands, in the country’s Himalayan foothills, topped the “Best Value for the Money” rankings.
