(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) – Old Palm Golf Club – the premier private and exclusive residential golf club community in the Palm Beaches – congratulates resident and member Charl Schwartzel on winning the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
The South African captured his eighth career title on the European Tour this past weekend with a 24-under-par score of 264 – the lowest recorded at Leopard Creek Country Club in Malelane, South Africa. For the second straight week, Schwartzel impressed with a dominating victory finishing 12 strokes over Sweden’s Kristoffer Broberg. He entered Sunday with a 10-shot lead and finished with four birdies and a bogey to post a final round score of 69.
“I keep talking about consistency, and mine is back where I like it to be,” says Schwartzel. “Old Palm’s championship-caliber golf course, state-of-the-art Golf Studio, and regulation length practice holes provide the ideal venue for total game improvement.”
“Charl’s outstanding play continues to establish our golf facilities and world-class amenities as the perfect environment for players of all skill levels to hone their game,” says Darlene Impellittiere, General Manager of Old Palm Golf Club. “In addition to providing a superior golf course, Old Palm affords it residents and members a spectacular lifestyle in a magnificent location, the Palm Beaches.”
In addition to Schwartzel, Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen have purchased homes at Old Palm, each citing its exclusivity, gracious neighborhoods, award-winning independent builders and sense of kinship among residents and members. Darren Clarke is a member and frequently visits Old Palm when his playing schedules permits, where he mingles with his contemporaries and other Old Palm owners.
Located six miles from the Atlantic Ocean in one of the world’s most golf-rich enclaves, Old Palm Golf Club is the epitome of exclusivity with 316 residences and 330 equity memberships. The Mediterranean-style clubhouse pampers residents and members with fine and casual dining, resort-style pool, and a luxurious Spa and Fitness Center.
Old Palm’s 7,401-yard Raymond Floyd-designed tournament-caliber golf course presents an enticing blend of power and precision-oriented holes. Traditional square tee boxes give the course a classic feel, and large landing areas and subtly-elevated greens emphasize approach shot values.
A game-improvement enthusiast’s dream, Old Palm’s 33-acre “Golf Studio” houses a double-ended range, V-1-equipped hitting bay with TrackMan technology and short-game area. Three full-length practice holes – a par 3, 4 and 5 – allow golfers to replicate shots and angles they encounter on the par-72 course.
