EL SEGUNDO, CA – TGA Premier Junior Golf (TGA), one of the leading initiatives to grow the game of golf and the only national after-school junior golf enrichment program, has been recognized for the third year in a row by Entrepreneur Magazine.
The fast-growing youth sports franchise-company has been listed at No. 295 this year, improving 25 spots from its previous ranking of No. 320, in Entrepreneur’s 34th annual Franchise 500. The ranking was published in the January 2013 issue and can be found online at entrepreneur.com.
“We’re honored to have moved up Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 list again this year as it speaks to the quality and sustainability of our unique franchise system that provides business ownership and career opportunities in the golf industry,” said Steve Tanner, chief operating officer of TGA. “More importantly, it is a testament to the hard work and passion of our franchisees who are growing the game of golf and enriching kids’ lives every day at elementary and middle schools across the country.”
Entrepreneur Magazine stated: “Year after year, franchises based around kids perform well, while those in other industries struggle. The reason? In lean times consumers tend to cut down on spending for themselves rather than for their dependents.” They also stated: “Enrichment franchises and sports-based fitness programs are surging in popularity.”
Entrepreneur Magazine also named TGA a “Top 10 Franchise Value” in 2010 based on total startup costs. In addition, the publication has ranked TGA among the top children’s fitness, low-cost and home-based franchises the last few years.
Through an innovative youth sports franchise model that implements a progressive five-level after-school enrichment curriculum, TGA Premier Junior Golf has created an infrastructure at the grass roots level to introduce the game of golf to youth ages 5-13 and their parents, adults 25-45. Students and their families, through school-based and community center programs, become invested in golf, giving TGA the ability to transition them to local golf courses.
TGA developed their unique franchise opportunity to create more business ownership opportunities within the golf industry for entrepreneurs and Golf Professionals. TGA realized that an engaged business owner’s success would be directly tied to how successful they are in growing the number of schools and activating families in their territories and community.
As a result, this franchise business model, launched in 2006, is successful across the United States and is now multi-national.
